Family Homestead Settlement

Svetochi Family Homestead Settlement

Our story began in 2006 when two families came to the khutor (Voronezh oblast) and began to dream about family homestead settlement. One of the families had roots among the Russified Germans, as well as the experience of living in Germany. In subsequent years, three more families moved from Germany as well as families from other parts of our country. We settled down and began to establish good relations with each other. We have established a small but friendly community. We sing in chorus and celebrate holidays together, play mini football, help each other.

Of course, we dream that new family will join us. We are in the process of establishing self-government in our khutor. We study the laws, looking for organizational approaches to attract resources. We want to create our own eco-production but this is very massive task. Everything goes in the spirit of integration with the world, in order to be useful, to get help and gratitude. Now we are a small sprout of a new world.

There is mobile communication and internet (MegaFon, Beeline, and MTS).

Olga Pichugina:

We all arrived in Atamanovka on different roads with different backgrounds and from different places. We all came with one purpose, to find joy in the soul, harmony and mutual understanding in families, for a happy childhood of our children and grandchildren. And to do that, we needed a lot of fertile land, some housing for the first time, wells with clean water, a large pond, forest, good road and electricity. And most importantly — friendly company of like-minded people. All this we found in the deserted Atamanovka khutor, in the fertile land (Voronezh oblast), near the Don River. We are intelligent parents, who left a prestigious job in the past. We are romantics, seeking a better life for ourselves and our children. Well-being, which we were looking for, we create in Atamanovka ourselves.

For example, who would have thought that children are much more interesting to play on the playground under a large, living tree, made with love and imagination from scrap materials by dad and older brother? We were surprised after the first harvest. How delicious are tomatoes and carrots from the garden, even better than the most expensive vegetables and fruits from the market, there’s nothing to tell about supermarkets. The aroma of dill, basil, parsley and garlic — it’s something incredible.

Our children walk in a forest and meadow without fear; swim in the pond with great courage at any time. Older children look after younger, younger listen to older. They learn together, help each other in work. In a unified system of values each wants not to be cooler, but better. We lead a healthy lifestyle, and it is impossible to do without sanity. We entertain ourselves, we have total leisure.

All good people are always welcome. There’s always a worthy place for the guest at the table. We are always ready to share our experience in the alternative lifestyle. If you and your children have never seen real country life, and you liked our outlook on life, come to visit us on holidays, festivals or at any time convenient for you (please let us know when you schedule your visit or call us ahead of your arrival!).

Elena Tychinina:

Just to be clear, we all read the Ringing Cedars of Russia series by Vladimir Nikolayevich Megre; we consciously took the idea of Anastasia (the main character of the book) about the revival of the family homestead to create a harmonious family life. We strive to create a Space of Love for the birth of children. We change — the world also changes. Eventually our entire planet will once again come alive with Love, Joy and Light.
