How To Make Natural Lip Balm With Cedar Oil

DIY Lip Balm with Siberian Cedar (Pine) Nut Oil

If you are looking for a natural and nourishing lip product, Siberian cedar (pine) nut oil is a fantastic ingredient for making your own lip balm. Rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, it helps soothe and hydrate your lips naturally, making it a great choice for your homemade skincare routine whether it is winter or summer. We have prepared a simple recipe for you to create your own lip balm using Siberian cedar (pine) nut oil.

What you will need:

  • 1 tbs beeswax pieces/flakes or pellets
  • 1 tbs Siberian cedar (pine) nut oil
  • 1 tbs shea butter or cocoa butter
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 5-10 drops of essential oil (optional, for a lovely natural scent – you could try oils such as peppermint or vanilla for example)

How to make your lip balm:

1. Prepare the space you will be working in – Make sure that you have a clean workspace. Gather all your ingredients and tools: a double boiler or heatproof bowl, a small spatula and lip balm containers (tins or tubes).

2. Melt the Beeswax – In a double boiler or heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt the beeswax, stirring occasionally until completely melted. The beeswax acts as a thickening agent and provides a protective layer for your lips.

3. Add your oils –  Once the beeswax is melted, add the Siberian cedar (pine) nut oil, shea butter, and coconut oil to the bowl. Continue stirring until all the ingredients are fully combined and melted. Cedar nut oil adds rich moisture, while shea butter and coconut oil provide additional nourishment and moisturising for smoothness.

4. Add Essential Oil (Optional) – If you’d like to add essential oils for a natural aroma, now is the time. Drop in 5-10 drops of your preferred essential oil and mix well.

5. Pour Your Mixture Into Containers – Quickly pour the mixture into your lip balm containers before it begins to cool down and solidify.

6. Let The Mixture Set – Allow the lip balm to cool and set completely: this usually takes about 30 minutes or so.

7. Enjoy – Your DIY cedar oil lip balm is now ready to use! Apply it regularly to keep your lips soft, hydrated and protected.

This natural lip balm not only offers great moisturising benefits but also ensures you know exactly what you’re putting on your lips. Enjoy your homemade lip balm with its unique healing Taiga twist!
